My name is Dan Hines. WELCOME to Money Wise Contractor Education, an
Oregon CCB approved Provider. Since 1999 over 6,000 Oregon Contractors have
passed the State exam using our interactive CD program. I created this program in a format that
I knew would be an easy and effective tool for construction savvy individuals
to learn to negotiate their way through the Oregon Construction Reference
Manual. Our State pass rate has
averaged over 98% during the last 10 years.
I started in the construction business as a teenager helping my Dad
build and remodel houses in Washington County. As an adult I was Sr. Building Inspector for Washington
County for 14 years before leaving to serve as Building Safety Director for
Deschutes County. Two heart
attacks in my 40’s resulted in a medical retirement, but sitting around the
house was not for me. In 1999, because my professional expertise lay in
construction and building codes, I started my first contractor education
company known as A Contractors Lifeline. That same year I was hired to write the original lesson plan
for the Oregon State reference manual and later wrote chapter 7.
Over the last 30 years I
have taught classes at Portland Community College, Lane Community College, the
Bureau of Indian Affairs, FEMA and the Virgin Islands Government. I have
numerous National and Oregon Building Inspector certifications and degrees in
Management, Vocational Education and Building Construction Technology. I am also a published author in
building code interpretation and enforcement.
My partner and wife, Sue
Hines spent 30 years with the United States Postal Service serving, among other
duties, as Delivery Service Analyst for the Portland District, managing rural
mail delivery and teaching budget, work hour reporting methods and standard
operating procedures to Postmasters and other management personnel before
retiring as a mid level Postmaster in 2005. She has been instrumental in writing questions, editing
content and keeping me focused on the task at hand. Her organizational skills
have kept me sane and her gentle manner of explanation has been helpful to both
potential clients and students using our program to pass the State exam.
As a team, Sue and I offer you extensive knowledge, expertise and
guidance to help you pass the Oregon State exam on the first try. Our Interactive CD teaches you how to
locate the information in the reference manual without having to read the whole
book. Our data bank of questions
covers the objectives listed at the beginning of each chapter and provides you
multiple opportunities to take practice tests that are different each
time. We are available 7 days a
week to assist you, by phone or e-mail.
